Ever since I was able to hold a spoon in my hand I have been entertaining people. I became an “expert” at devising dance and comic acts at the age of four and was determined to put on my first professional show by the age of five!
Obviously I was not as good as I thought, but the dream was there, at every opportunity I got involved with church shows, Christmas concerts and the like.
However, I constantly unnerved directors by my need to have a script even in the last rehearsals and my apparent inability to remember my lines until the curtain went up on the first night – until one director suggested that I work backstage, “on lights or sound maybe”. I never found out if this was because we didn’t have any designers at the time or whether he really thought I would be any good, but I have never looked back.
In 2007 I graduated from studying BA(Hons) Performance Design and Management at The Arden, Manchester.
